HOTEL DOLOMITI – STUDIO ILP

Il Bar Ristorante Hotel Dolomiti sorge, all’interno del Parco delle Piccole Dolomiti Lucane, a Castelmezzano, piccolo borgo immerso in un fantastico paesaggio roccioso che conserva l’impianto urbanistico medievale. La struttura, che con il suo aspetto da baita altoatesina rappresenta un’evidente eccezione dal gusto ambiguo, in forte contrasto sia con l’aspetto esterno da chalet alpino che con il contesto urbano dell’abitato.

Il progetto di riattivazione del manufatto è attuato attraverso pochi necessari interventi di ridistribuzione interna, che rispettano lo schema funzionale originario, e tramite l’inserimento di mobili/attrezzature che risolvono più funzioni equipaggiando gli spazi.

L’operazione progettuale restituisce alla comunità un edificio atipico e ne ribadisce il duplice effetto sorpresa:
– nel rapporto EDIFICIO/SPAZIO URBANO: avvalorando, con un restauro quasi conservativo dei prospetti, l’eccezionalità irriverente del manufatto che mai potrebbe oggi essere realizzato in un’area paesaggisticamente tutelata.
– nel rapporto ESTERNO/INTERNO: riproponendo, tramite il recupero di elementi, l’uso dei materiali, il disegno di arredi polifunzionali e immagini di roccia, ambientazioni che, conservando la memoria di ciò che era, risultino totalmente inaspettate al visitatore.

The Bar Restaurant “Hotel Dolomiti” is located in Castelmezzano. Within the “Piccole Dolomiti Lucane” Park. Surrounded by a breathtaking rocky landscape lays Castelmezzano, a small village preserving its medieval urban layout. The Hotel, built at the endo of the 60s with its South Tyrolean hut look, is a clear exception reiterated in its interior design, where its ceramic floors, marble stairs and textile doors, strongly retracing the 70s style, were clashing against both: the outer look of the alpine chalet and the urban context.

The restoration of the structure takes place with few necessary repurposing steps of the inner structure, respecting its native functional scheme and equipping the space with versatile multipurpose furniture.

The project renders to the community a peculiar piece of architecture, reinstating its surprising duplicity:
– within the building and the urban layout: validating, with an almost conservative restoration of the prospects, the exceptionality of this structure which could never been built nowadays in such a heavily regulated stylistic area;
– within the exterior versus the interior space: rendering through the restoration of stylistic elements, choice of materials, polyfunctional design and rocky landscapes imagery an element of surprise to the visitor yet preserving the memory of what once was.
